Open Another Door--on The Modernism Factors In Ye Shengtao's Novels

Ye Shengtao is regarded as a realism writer in most of the literary history works. Totally this view is right. But after reading Ye Shengtao's novels attentively, we can find that there are non-realism or modernism factors in his novels. During the period of 54 times, the wide dissemination and introduction of various schools of foreign literatures in China had the influence to many Chinese writers' creation. Ye Shengtao has closer relations with the foreign literatures and philosophies than people generally imagine. He also receives the influence of modernism philosophy and literature. This can be traced both in Ye Shengtao's ideas and literature works. But in a long time, it was neglected because of political and ideology's reason. It can be said that modernism is one of the organic composition parts of Ye Shengtao's works. Unearthing and reorganizing this aspect positively , will be helpful for us to understand and grasp this modern renowned writer accurately .This paper mainly has three parts: the origin of the modernism factors in Ye Shengtao's works, the modernism subjects in Ye Shengtao's works and the modernism artistic techniques in Ye Shengtao's works.
