The Reseach Of Shen Congwen's Biography During The New Period

Shen Congwen spent most of his life in city,but he wrote massive local pastoral songs of Western Hunan.He insisted on the freedom of literature,but unfortunately got involved in political disturbance.He stirred up the whole literary world by his talented works in the first half of his life,but stopped writing in the second half.He had a hard life but kept a pure"countryman" soul.During the debate in the late 1940s,Shen Congwen was labeled as a"reactionary scholar" and was constantly marginalized.He had no choice but to put his pen aside and devote himself to a new study of cultural relics.Until the late 1970s and early 1980s,a renaissance happened in the literary area with ideological emancipation and literature boosting,therefore Shen Congwen's literary works went back to the literary stage,and the voice of re-evaluating Shen Congwen's literary achievements was also rising.While numerous overseas research was introduced in home,a phenomenon called "frontier city fever" in the literary world and even in the society was wildly discussed.This fever makes almost everyone know Shen's name.With this kind of discussion goes deeper and wider,people put their eyes on Shen Congwen's legendary life.To perceive the readers' desire and the call of the times,sophisticated biographers were began to write about Shen Congwen.Since 1980,published biography about Shen Congwen was in a great amount which was rare in that time.Shen Congwen's biography not only provides us with a platform to understand him and deeply but also a comprehensive presentation of Shen Congwen's research achievements in a period of time.Compared with other biographical content,a relatively few research and critical thinking was made on "Shen Congwen's biography",and the research results are insufficient.Therefore,it is necessary to systematically organize,compare and analyze Shen Congwen's biography since the new ear.Not only can we sort out Shen Congwen's life from a new perspective,grasp the reproduction of Shen Congwen's image in biographical literature,and explore the appropriate way to enter Shen Congwen's mind,but also make a supplement to Shen Congwen's research from the perspective of biographical literature,so as to make it more comprehensive and systematic,and improve the theory and criticism system of Contemporary Biographical literature.The first chapter of this thesis systematically introduces the writing and publishing of Shen Congwen's biography which was classifies according to different types.In the second chapter,the author makes a case study of Shen Congwen's biography.Considering the limitation of length,the author chooses three most representative works of Shen Congwen's biography to make a close reading and comparative analysis of the texts,in order to get a deep glimpse of it.And by exploring the different characteristics of different authors,and analyzing the merits and demerits of biography writing,a promotion of the development of Shen Congwen's biography writing and research can be achieved.In the third chapter of this thesis,what is under discussed is the image-building of Shen Congwen's biography,and concentrate on extracting three important images of Shen Congwen.First,a comparative analysis of the "countryman" images mentioned in different biographies would be make.Second,the causes of the image of "crazy man" from the points where Shen Congwen's life is divided would be discussed.Third,the thesis would mainly discuss the latter half of Shen Congwen's life.By analyzing the life of a "stopped writing writer" and his spiritual world,it is expected to show how a more diverse Shen Congwen in the field of biography literature is interpreted and accepted.Chapter IV of this thesis is about the uniqueness and demonstration significance of Shen Congwen's biographical writing methods in several editions.First of all,it makes a comment and think on Shen Congwen's biography writing,and then analyses the methodology and attitude of typical biography.
