The intermediate speaking systems for Chinese study of Thai students have common problems that prevent them from pronouncing perfect Chinese. The biased error and petrifaction of pronunciation are the major issues amongst those factors. On the basis of the theory of intermediate language and a collection of Thai-students-spoken Chinese samples, the paper tries to understand and describe the intermediate language system that they utilize for Chinese study, and analyzes consonant pronunciation systems of both Chinese and Thai by comparison and contrasts. The paper also tries to propose an effective strategy of teaching Chinese for Thai students by better understanding of the formation of the Thai Students' intermediate language from the view of psychology. This paper finds that the formation of consonant of their intermediate language is the comprehensive effects of the deviations caused by empirical knowledge, inaccuracy in phonetic rules of Chinese language, and training of Chinese study. These deviations among the peer students do not only mislead them from accurate pronunciation but also further strengthen the incorrect way they speak Chinese which finally forms their intermediate language. As a result, the Thai students learning Chinese cannot distinguish consonant pairs in Chinese and have grave biased errors and petrifactions pronunciations on pre-palatal, dental sibilant and retroflex consonants. In author's opinion,it is the excessive pursuit in the final quality of Chinese teaching that causes the phenomenon.Instead, the Chinese instructors should more concentrate on the learning process of students and base their teaching on the comprehension of the Chinese learners.
