ErNvYingXiongZhuan, a vernacular novel written mostly in spoken language during mid to late Qing Dynasty, can basically give us a rough profile of the Beijing dialect in mid-nineteenth century, so it's of great value in the research history of modern Chinese language. The particle system in ErNvYingXiongZhuan is a great feature, which is not only obviously different from that of the Dream of the Red Mansions more than 100 years before, but also quite different from that of the"Under the Red Flag"by Lao She over 100 years letter, though those two reflected the basic profile basic profile of Beijing dialect in their time as well. Therefore, it is worth studying. However, except only a few of scattered discuss, there are still no comprehensive study of this system. In this paper, with use of both statistical and qualitative methods, we have made exhaustive analysis on the grammatical meaning and syntax distribution characteristics of each member in the four kinds of particles in the novel, namely, aspectual particles, structural particles, metaphor particle and mood particles.
