This chapterwill analysis the single syllable modal particles of Quwo county’sdialect from the perspective of total time. According to the currentlyavailable materials, there are eighteen single syllable modalparticles in Quwo county’s dialect. In accordance with the tonemeaning of Quwo county’s dialect modal and modern researchachievement of dialect modal, these modal particles are divided intothree types: temporal modal particle, modality particle, interrogativemodal particle. Among them, temporal modal particle includes“唻[lai0]”,“啦[la0]”,“嘞1[lei0]”,“的[tei0]”,“也[ia0]”,“'1[lau0]”, modalityparticle includes “'2[lau0]”,“嘞2[lei0]”,“噢[au31]”,“着[ts0]”,“嚜[m0]”,“憾[x31]”,“吧1[ba0]”,“啊1[a0]”, and interrogative modal particle includes“吧2[ba0]”“啊2[a0]”“嘞3[lei0]”“吗[ma0]”. On this basis, we adopt theway of comparison between modal particles of Quwu dialect and thatof mandarin. Besides, in the modal system of Quwo dialect, severalmodal particles have similar meaning.
