Some of the Shuo Wen's interpretations touches upon the motivation of nominating things. They revealed the origin of the names between the defined and defining words. The origin of the names means that there are many interpretable relationships between the names of things and things themselves(concluding their features). The research is carried out of 643 interpretations of motivation. We divided them into 12 kinds of relationship: Shape, Color or Pattern; Nature or Characteristics; Tools or Methods; Quantity or Time; Object and Effect; Analogy; Generic; Place; Stock; Cause and Effect and Cultural Customs. This research chooses typical interpretations, divides them into 12 kinds of relationship, and explains them, in order to prove the motivation. The research helps us to discuss the derivative relations between words, to provide the facts and theories for relations of Name and Reality. It also helps us to explain the origin of he words, to reveal the implicant meanings of words.
