Therefore, not only linguistic researchers and toponymy researchers study place names, but also geographical researchers attach great importance to the study of place names.Hubei province has a long history and culture, and it is the place where chu culture origin and under the influence of chu culture. It is one of the important battle place in the Three Kingdoms period, so The Three Kingdoms culture had left its mark in hubei province. Hubei province have various of terrain. The main terrain is mountains, and there are many river and lakes, so Hubei province is called “province has thousands of lakes”. The text analyze the place-names of Hubei province, then draw the conclusion that natural and human features that are showed from place-names in Hubei province area,and the distribution characteristic and its reason.The article has the following several parts:The first part is the introduction part. The paper introduces the purpose and significance of research place names, source and research methods, domestic and abroad research status.The second part of this paper introduces the general situation of Hubei province,from the geographical environment, administrative divisions, historical evolution, natural resources and human environment of Hubei province.The third part is the etymology of type and statistical results of the administrative place-names in Hubei province. Firstly the etymology types of 1,846 administrative place-names are divided into two types according to the natural factors and human factors.Secondly natural administrative place-names are divided into eight kinds that are topography, hydrology, plants, distance, orientation, animals, products, meteorology,and then mainly analyze the topography, hydrology, plants, distance. Thirdly human administrative place-names are divided into eighteen kinds that are surname, construction,transportation, economy, numbers, characters, names, historical events, myth, fetish,military, willingness, nation, color, use, religion, office Dynasties, and then mainly analyze the surname, construction, transportation, economy.The fourth part is the relationship between the administrative place names in Hubei province and natural geographical environment factors. According to the statistical results of natural geographical environment factor place-names analyze that which kinds of natural elements affect the place-names and which kind of natural elements is irrelevant with the place-names. Then using the ARCGIS software to map the space distribution feature of Hubei area place-names density, topography and hydrology place-names. So that to analyze space distribution feature of Hubei natural place-names and make a detailed analysis on the spatial distribution of the main natural factors place-names and their distributional reasons.The fifth part is the relationship between the administrative place names in Hubei province and human geographical environment factors. According to the statistical results of human geographical environment factor place-names analyze that which kinds of human elements affect the place-names and which kind of human elements is irrelevant with the place-names. Then using the ARCGIS software to map space distribution of the population and Per Capital GDP. So that to analyze space distribution feature of Hubei human place-names and make a detailed analysis on the spatial distribution of the main human factors place-names and their distributional reasons.The sixth part is the summary of the pap and disadvantages.
