The Metropolis Culture Characteristic In Wang Hailing's Fictions After Intensive Reading

Since the reform and opening to the outside world, especially after the 1990s, with the establishment of the market economy, China's metropolis novel writing enters a period of high tide. Among the writers, Wang Hailing is an outstanding writer who deserves particular attention. She explores the changes of marriage and family issues in modern Chinese cities since the reform and open policy taken place in her novels. She is regarded as the best writer in marriage novels writing because of her remarkable contribution. Wang Hailing pays close attention to modern metropolis life, to the ordinary life of ordinary people in new developed urban and the highly educated females as well. Her writings focus on the happiness and sadness of marriage in ordinary people's life, explore the nature of marriage from different perspective on the base of realism. The characteristic of her novels gains her lot of readers. Lots of works have been done on study and research on metropolis literature, but seldom on research of Wang Hailing's metropolis novels and the metropolis complex in it. Because of the reason, this paper studies on Wang Hailing's metropolis novels to explore the forms of expression of metropolis complex and the factor of the existence and its value and the limitations as well. This study will contribute to the literary and artistic creation.This paper introduces the present situation and value of Wang Hailing's metropolis novels, also introduces the meanings and purpose of the study in the introduction part.The main body of the paper includes five parts. The first part defines the metropolis literature and metropolis complex, is the theoretical foundation for the paper.The second part discusses the forms of metropolis complex in Wang Hailing's novel--the scenes of cities, the marriage in cities and the characters in cities.The third part explores the reasons for the existence of metropolis complex in her novels from the perspective of the growing experience and the love for metropolis life.The fourth part summaries the value of the metropolis complex in Wang Hailing's novel. Her works draws people's attention to the females in cities, creates the characters of highly educated middle class.The fifth part points out the limitations of Wang Hailing's metropolis novels. These include the fixed modes, narrow views and the compromise in her writings.
