Following Greece and ancient Rome, the Renaissance is the second peak period of cultural and artistic development in Europe. The Renaissance originated in Italy, Italian painting is also the first painting was from the Middle Ages to the impact of humanism and scientific road. This paper first discribed the occurrence of the Italian Renaissance historical background and the human evironment, as an explanation of the source of Italian Renaissance painting thought.During Italian Renaissance period, high Renaissance paintings and artists are the most commendable. Because language and materials are immature, early Italian Renaissance painting is seldom mentioned. The first chapter of this article focus on an analysis and list of the most representative artists and their works of the early Italian Renaissance, there are some artists here had been forgotten for centuries before rediscovering.Early Italian Renaissance painting is distinguish from high, late Renaissance painting, because of its simple,straightforward, primitive and reflects more humanism and scientic spirit than Nordic early Renaissance painting; furthermore, its performance of lines concides with the basic modeling language of ancient Chinese painting, these characteristics are also demonstrated in the first chapter. Chapter 11 of this article is mainly to discuss the early Italian Renaissance painting's practical significance for modern and contemporary painting, through case studies of modern and contemporary artists to illustrate its impact on modern and contemporary painting.Finally, article concludes: With ideological devotion, sincerity and on the nature of language, early Renaissance painting has become noble painting. It is precisely this kind of painting that modern and contemporary painting should learn and inherit.
