A Research On Design Of Contemporary Artist's Living Space

Contemporary artists are leading figures currently active in the stage of art. Due to the particularity of identity and constraints of economic and social situation, they often have fixed choices on their living environment and residential type, and the state of their living space is also rather special. At the same time, contemporary artists have special requirements on design of their living space in the functional and aesthetic aspects. They take design of their living space as a further extension of their artistic creation, and hope to make their living space fully express their own pursuit of art personality through various means.This paper tries to find out and analyze the contemporary artist's state of living space, proposes practical problems on design of contemporary artist's living space that should be resolved. In accordance with the requirements of art and personality, this paper proposes overall methods and specific measures appropriate to the design of contemporary artist's living space for reference.This paper first studies up literature and papers available, defines the scope of contemporary arts and contemporary artists, sums up their particularity on the living environment and residential type, compares the living spaces of Chinese and west countries, then proposes the special design requirements of contemporary artist's living space, such as to integrate space functions, to optimize construction limitations, to meet act requirements and to highlight artistic expression. Through works analysis and cases summary, this paper proposes the main methods and specific measures on design of contemporary artist's living space, such as to liberalize the space state, to make creative atmosphere of space, to use simple materials, to make screen of colors and to make furniture as works.
