The Study Of Limited Animation

Limited animation involves the use of less detailed and more stylized drawings and methods of movement.From1950s,pioneered by the artists at the American studio United Productions of America(UPA),limited animation can be used as a method of stylized artistic expression.Nonetheless,UPA had a significant impact on animation style,content,and technique,and its innovations were recognized and adopted by the other major animation studios and independent filmmakers all over the world.UPA pioneered the technique of limited animation,and though this style of animation came to be widely abused during the 1960s and 1970s as a cost-cutting measure,it was originally intended as a stylistic alternative to the growing trend of recreating cinematic realism in animated films.Its primary use,however,has been in producing cost-effective animated content for media such as televisionand later the Internet.From 1990s,the developmet of computer technology broght animation into digital working process.However,some essential problems of animation production has not been sloved such as how to find the finicial supports,how to keep the art quality in low buget background and how to keep oneself unique style in animation production as well.Therefore,this thesis focus on the following subjects:1,How can digital animation borrow valuable experiences from Limited Animation?2,How can digital animation technique support low buget animation production? This thesis tries to get more deeper understandings about Limite Animation by analyzing the authors,audience,experiment methods,communication channels and finicial supports of Limited Animation.
