A Study On Graves Of Zeng State Period

The thesis mainly makes a research on the structure and cultural characteristics of graves of Zeng State Period.Firstly,this paper makes an exposition of Zeng State and graves in this period from early Xizhou Dynasty to middle Warring State,and clarifies the geographical area where graves are located,that is,Suizao corridor in northern Hubei province and southern Henan province.Then,the thesis studies the structure,grave goods, and accordingly catogorizes the graves.The studies on grave structures covers the location,sealed earth,grave pathway,grave pit,grave goods,and human sacrifice.As for grave goods,the research mainly covers their variety,the characteristics of typical goods, the setup of grave goods,position,bronze ritual vessel,the mixture of ritual pottery vessels imitating those of bronze counterparts and everyday pottery vessels.According to all the characteristics of the grave sturcture and grave goods and the changes of the characteristics of grave goods and their combination,the changes of grave goods in this period are pointed out.Also,on the basis of the previous studies,cultures in central China and Chu culture are compared for the sake of cultural characteristics of graves in this period.At last,based on the features of grave pits,coffins and grave goods,this paper classifies the graves of Zeng State Period into four types in order of social status, the system of which is further studied in this paper.
