It has been held in common among the scholars of Chinese linguistics that the theory of Prosodic Grammar can explain some problems that the traditional theories can't do. However, in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, few people pay attention to this new theory.Firstly, this paper overviews quite a lot of researches about Chinese prosodic words, it mainly covers three aspects: the flexibility of Chinese words, the concealing and revealing of "de(çš„)" and sentence-completing category. And then we conclude some prosodic rules of Chinese words that we must follow when teaching Chinese to foreigners.The second section is analyzing errors. We collected a large amount of the errors of oversea students when learning Chinese and then separate them into three groups: the error of the flexibility of Chinese words, the error of the concealing and revealing of "de(çš„)" and the error of sentence-completing category. Then we analyzed the reasons of such errors. First is the characteristic of Chinese. Second is the negative influence come from the students' mother language. Third is the negative influence come from Chinese knowledge they have learnt. Last is the ignorance of the prosody of Chinese words.At the end of the paper, we give some advice on teaching, such as the method of comparing and correcting mistakes in a group.
