Carson McCullers attaches great attention to the psychological difficulties of humans i.e. loneliness and isolation, which highlights a quest for unique identity of the individual temperament. Actually she is seeking "connection" among us human beings. Here in this paper present two "other" groups at the fringes of society: the female(androgynous role) and the black(mixed race role). By creating the "mixing" temperament, author isolates these two special groups from the mainstream community. Starting from the special settings and the plots, arounding two factors: "gender" and "race", the paper tries to explore the living and connecting conditions of the mainstream community and the "other" groups,the males and the female, the white and the black, which includes "eros","agape","isolation". In the background of American consumption culture, tries to uncover the "queer" style thinking of Carson McCullers, which is to blur boundary, overcome the gap, create a new pattern of interpersonal relationship.With regard to "gender", aims at some special characters mixed gender temperament in the text of ,,etc, to discuss the dichotomy of "eros" and its form of alienation..With regard to "race", arounds certain specific character of text (Berenice, Sherman), to discuss the real possibility of an ideal human relationships which is to change "eros" into "agape" in the background of consumption culture.
