This dissertation made detailed analysis on the novel:My Name Is Red from angle of narratology according to the theory proposed by the French theorist Gerard Genette in his book:'narratology·new narratology'; the novel is discussed via narratology theory from 5 aspects respectively: the story structure,'muti-voice'phenomenon'fake'of author, narration hierarchy, single/repeat, etc.The story structure of My Name Is Red is depicted in this dissertation utilizing the US narratist story structure distracted diagram, which is the domestically first. Several pre-narration and back-narration are applied in the book, the narration exists in 13 days, and each day automatically turns to a serial. 59 sub-chapters, a separated narrator make narration in each chapter, push the story like racing bar. As the narrator is multiple, the readers usually feel the mess of vision, and the problem can be solved by a story structure chart to illustrate the story hierarchy. The narration way was not randomly picked when author told the story, which on contract, is arranged by the expression requirements. Due to the special background of the story, Pamuk exerted the'muti-voice'to tell.'multi-voice'allowed the each side in conflict to express their own idea with same chances, all voice was fairly presented to the readers, and the judges are made by reader's own. The'fake'is everywhere in the book. Firstly, the'fake'of the time, as the Pamuk began his story, the time when the story had been the past, the narrator pretended that the story was happening and tried to convince the readers that the story was happening. Secondly, the'fake'of the identity, Pamuk pretend to several objects to talk to the readers, though the real death and colour can not tell, the'fake'of the identities are used to represent(or fake represent) the fairy of presentation. The third, the'fake'of the vision, which actually similar with the identity fake, but the fake of the vision indicates'focus'and'fake'of the identities demonstrate the changes of the presenters. My Name Is Red contains at least 3 narration hierarchies, As the hidden author in narration frame, Orhan Pamuk blew a large bubble that included all people and story at the end of the story, which is the narration of the first level. The second level is make by people in the bubble blew more small bubbles in different sizes, and smaller bubbles may be located in small bubbles, which is the third level, the new presentation happened when the people were telling.nR/nH(the n are equal, but not 1) narration in Single/repeat proposed by Gerard Genette and nR/1H narration are perfectly applied by Pamuk, but the 1R/1H and 1R/nH narration style are rarely used in the book due to their limitations.Base on the analysis above, we believe that My Name Is Red is the books that is able to demonstrate the Noble prize winner Orhan Pamuk's outstanding skills in narration, and also reveal the reason the book both gained the Noble prize and welcomed by people.
