As is well known that environmental problem is a global problem, so to research on environmental issues has become a significant study of contemporary. Fundamentally speaking, the environment problem is the relationship between man and nature issues. There have been Anthropocentrism,Animal rights protectionism,Bio-centrism,Land of Ethics have answered to this question. However, it is Rolston who has made this issue referee to the new philosophy in a high degree. He pointed out the problem clearly that is there worth in the wilderness? Or is there intrinsic value in the nature? And also it is the problem, which has tortured the different position in ecological ethics and attitudes. Rolston had affirmative responded to this question, and this answer has changed the position of traditional ecological ethics and vision, and it also caused an unprecedented controversy.Rolston was famous for the books in the title of "philosophy to the wilderness". And in the books he cleared that "It is the value of the natural world." Rolston believed that the nature is a unity, and the unity is complete and indivisible. It is also a community life. The relationship between man and nature is inherent rather than the simple satisfaction of external relations. The source of value is nature of the community of life. In this sense, man is one of the Members in the life of a community, and men have the inescapable moral responsibility to the Community. Traditional Value theory values of human frame of reference to determine the value of things. But Rolston moved in the opposite direction, propounded clearly that the word "value" of polysemy. In this way just Stressed the multilevel nature of the value. The value in the nature is a pyramid structure, and the value of people is at the top of the pyramid, at the same time, the value of natural objects such as animals, plants and the inorganic is at the bottom of the value pyramid. But in this relationship, the bottom of the value is the basis of the top value. And the nature pyramid structure was developed on the basis of the bottom nature. It appeared in Rolston's mind that it is the wilderness which is the incubator of the matrix of life. The value of the wilderness in relation to humans is a selfless "love". The value in nature is not just Objective but also internal. We can derive our environmental obligations from the nature value. The intrinsic value is the value which is found in the value of their own without referenced to other things. Creativity of the natural systems is the value of the mother, rather than we have give value to nature but the nature gives value to us as a gift. In the ecological system as a whole, nature makes the individual have been a life of its own, rather than into the existence of other natural objects. The individual's intrinsic value has made this, and it's as a good species. This is also the source of the intrinsic value of organism's lies.Rolston's natural value theory is the challenge of traditional ecological ethics, and also led to a large number of theoretical issues. On the one hand, Rolston's ecological ethics ideas has an important bearing on updating the ecological awareness, emphasizing on the value of biological diversity, establishing the integrity relationship of man and nature, enhancing the culture role of people as well as the importance of public policy, business ethics requirements and institute of poetic dwelling. On the other hand, Rolston's ecological ethics ideas in the lack of adequate support. How to deal with the relationship between the intrinsic value of nature and the external value of nature? Rolston has not made a convincing argument and description to this question. The problem of can "yes" lead to "should" also needs to further proof, all these questions are worthy of our to make further exploration.
