The development and change of ornamental pattern art contains the thinking essence of artists of different ages. The protection and evolution of national traditional culture have attracted considerable attention. Similarly, the traditional ornamental pattern art of minorities, one part of national traditional arts, is faced with the problem of the inheritance and development. With the process of time and the development of science and technology, how to connect modern pattern arts with the traditional ornamental pattern art of minorities has already been put on the agenda by many designers and artists. Therefore, modern pattern design, the vehicle of culture, bear the responsibility of cultural inheritance as well as the assimilation of the spirits of traditional culture of minorities.With the unique style, profound implications and charming cultural connotations, the richly historied Uighur patterns can provide designers with a wealth of designing elements and creative inspirations. The blending of Xinjiang Uighur ornamental patterns with modern pattern design can realize the evolution and reconstruction of national patterns, thus offering an effective way of inheriting and developing national traditional arts of minorities. Through the study of Xinjiang Uighur ornamental patterns, the author analyses the images, colors, Aesthetic values, Symbolic Significance in the regional culture in an effort to find the patterns in compliance with the aesthetic standards of modern designing. The author also elaborates the possibility and feasibility of the extension, reutilization and recreation of Xinjiang Uighur ornamental patterns through modern designing methods. Xinjiang Uighur ornamental patterns should not just be repeated or copied in designing, rather, they should be mined, recreated and innovated, endowing works with clear-cut features of the time , national traditional implications and thus eternal vitality.With the rapid development of society and opening world, it is urgent that the designers blend the essence of national traditional culture with modern designing. Especially true is that in graphic creation in visual design, modern designers should create design works with profound Chinese national implications by blending the national patterns with modern designing. This is the position that modern designers should take for the purpose of inheritance of national culture and creation of localized and humanized designs.
