Xinjiang, known as the Western Regions in ancient times,is the main route of transportation between eastern and western cultural interaction from the ancient Silk Road. Through thousands of years changing in succession, Xinjiang leaves many art treasures to the people in this world,to the contemporary, which still inherited the best of human civilization in Western Regions. The flatness of style and consciousness of the contemporary oil painting in Xinjiang forms in such the multi-cultural and multi-situation. First of all, the contemporary oil painting of Xinjiang as a branch of the Chinese contemporary oil painting has fused the Aesthetic characteristics and aesthetic principles of the entire Chinese nation. The flatness as the spirit of Chinese art, highlights of the aesthetic needs of traditional Chinese culture. Secondly, such as the plane style of the Buddhist cave temples mural, the plane sense of the Islamic decorative arts, or the plane notch of rock painting and prairie shirengou, these are the source of endless art of contemporary artists in Xinjiang. Finally, following society advances and the rapid development of science and technology, the western ideology of contemporary art are also to some extent an impact on the development of Xinjiang's contemporary oil paintings. The flatness of the contemporary oil painting in Xinjiang should not be bound to uphold the nation's aesthetic taste at the same time to adapt to contemporary aesthetic ideas at the free and open global system, which have been given the modern features and a broader space for development.For the symbol of avant-garde and fashion, the flatness is not only highlight the international orientation and modern, but also adapted to the aesthetic needs of the Chinese nation. But no matter the flatness of the contemporary oil painting in Xinjiang inherited the traditional Western style of national art, or fused open and free of the contemporary international environment, It has been integrated into the native peoples in Xinjiang of aesthetic principles and emotion, and form their own characteristics system in the Western Regions of the plane sense and style. The complexity and richness of plane element and sense in modern art provide many of the theoretical support and the possibility of selection for the development of Xinjiang's contemporary oil paintings, including style techniques, visual psychology, aesthetic value and the spiritual connotation. Through initiative reference and learning, the flatness of Xinjiang's contemporary oil paintings was infinitely broad and diverse range of development and open creative ideas, enriching the language and style art innovation. Contemporary artists in Xinjiang explore the geographic advantage in depth and actively promote the development road with local characteristics. They tried to create the Western-style art forms, which has a positive significance for the formation of Chinese contemporary oil painting inclusive and diverse art pattern with Chinese characteristics.
