Pan Yue and Lu Ji are the typical representative poet of the Western Jin Dynasty. We can learn much about the literature of the Western Jin Dynasty in general from their poetry. However, there is also argument about how to value Pan and Lu's poetry. Overall, there are much area to be explored. This paper attempts to determine their status in the history of poetry through the comprehensive comparison about Pan and Lu's poetry.First of all, the article introduces the environment where Lu and Pan lives, then their experiences and characteristics. It is very essential to conduct a comparative study profoundly and comprehensively. Secondly, the article analyzes the content in the Pan and Lu's poems comparatively. Pan and Lu live together in the Western Jin Dynasty, which makes the content of their poems are marked with the times somewhat. But their content of poem are different in orientation and emotional connotations because of the personal differences. Finally, the article analyzes the Pan and Lu's poems comparatively in the logical relations,natural art and language art and so on. Through the analysis and comparison, we can highlight their style of poem and value of their position in a rational manner.After Cao Zhi, Pan and Lu explore deeply in the art of poem. They give the history of Chinese poetry a larger change. Their exploration in the form of art is not to prevent the development of poetry, but to prepare the conditions of the take-off of poetry.
