Shangyu city belongs to Shaoxing city, locating in northeastern part of Zhejiang province, south side of Hangzhou bay ,between Hangzhou city and Ningbo city and facing each other across the sea with Shanghai city. She has glorious history and she is the birth place of "Shun". She is also the hometown of "Shanbo Liang"and "Yingtai Zhu".She is the original place of celadon ware .Baiguan town is located in the northeastern part of Shangyu city and Baiguan town's topography is smooth and the transportation is convenient. So Baiguan town is always the centre of politics, economy and culture of Shangyu city. Baiguan dialect is On behalf of Shangyu dialect and the author is living in Baiguan town. So making a detailed analytical paper to explanating Baiguan dialect and it is including the characteristic of initial,rhyme and tone, Contrasting with ancient times'phonetic correspondence, researching tone sandhi, inspecting etymological character and syllabary,dialect maps.Shangyu dialect belongs to Linshao small part of Taihu part in Wu dialects. But the researching to Shangyu dialect is so few except that "Shangyu local gazetteer".Using the method of fieldwork to making report on a survey of the dialect with interviewer and statisting questionnaire and inspecting etymological characters with "Guangyun", "Jiyun" and so on. The paper includes five parts. The first part descripes the region,history and present situation of Shangyu dialect. The second part descripes the characteristic of initial,rhyme and tone. Shangyu dialect has twenty-eight initial plus zero initial, forty-five rhymes and six tone. This paper also comparises between Shangyu dialect and ancient times'phonetic correspondence. The third part descripes tone sandhi and one handred groups merges into twenty-seven tone sandhi. The forth part descripes etymological character using "Guangyun", "Jiyun" and so on. The fifth part descripes syllabary and appendix has three dialect maps.
