On Mount Tai Worship Study Conducted By Western Sinologists

The thesis is a commentary study of the academic history of Mount Tai worship researches conducted by the Western Sinologists.It is mainly based on some western relevant documents (especially in English documents), hoping to fill up the deficiency of the introduction to the Mount Tai worship studies to some extent ,by introducing and commenting on leading scholars and their works as well as the monographic studies on Mount Tai worship conducted by western sinologists. Only a preliminary attempt is this thesis, more concerns should be paid to the comprehensive translations and comments of Western Mount Tai worship research.According to the thread, this paper comprises of three parts.In the first part- Chapter 1, the exordium which introduces the reasons why to select this subject, the researching aims, content, research methods, research range , materials system , meanings , methods and defines the conceptions used in this paper are introduced.The second part is an essential part, consisted of three parts. Chapter 2 ,Brief Summarization on Western Mount Tai Worship Research History , analyzed the essence of the problem according to vertical section, seeking for the expanded skeleton from the viewpoint of the academic history. Chapter 3, Comments on the Leading Scholars and Their Works, introduced several leading scholars and their works systematically. Chapter 4, Monographic Study on Mount Tai Worship Conducted by Western Sinologists, in contrast to the Chapter 2, analyzed the issue according to cross section, conducting a thematic analysis and comment of the western Mount Tai worship research.Part 3, revelation from western studies, the key to the whole thesis, though it is brief, gives the constructive suggestions on the current situation and studies of China Mount Tai Worship, by commenting on the western Mount Tai worship research.
