Research For Protection And Tourism Development Of The Gaoluo Music Association

The Gaoluo Music Association (the M.A.) is a folk music association in Gaoluo Village, Laishui County, Hebei Province. The melody it played called Gaoluo Anicent Music.With the approval of the State Council, the ancient music was placed in the list of the state-level intangible cultural heritage in 2006. The M.A. has close relationship with Houshan culture and takes the responsibility for presiding and giving praise to the god in the Houshan ancestor worship activities. Its performing form originated from wind and drum music of Han Dynasty and the direct source comes from the Buddhism of local temple—Fuyan Temple.The M.A. is a public welfare organization in villages. It presides over the following activities: prays good fortunes in the Spring Festival, pays homage to Houtu and attends folk funerals. All the activities of the Music Association are on the voluntary basis and the financial support mainly comes from the villager's contribution. With the development of modernization, the imparting of the ancient melody is facing severe challenge and its protection becomes an urgent need.The M.A. is valuable in such aspects as historical imparting, scientific cognition, harmonious society and tourism development. Governors of all levels pay sufficient attention and the society offers great support to its protection and development besides the consistent efforts of itself.When talking about the protection and development of The M.A., we should firmly stick to the protecting principle of national intangible cultural heritage, refer to currently existing developing pattern and management mechanism and draw on the advanced experience of other similar heritage. Thus we can find a way for the protection and development of the Gaoluo Music Association.
