For these purpose, the thesis is divided into five parts, deals with the following issues. Following the introduction of the thesis, chapter one goes over the relevant studies on tourist translation and presents the theory of plural complementarism translation criteria. It analyzes the theory and discusses its characters of this theory. Chapter two analyzes the cultural differences in the tourist translation materials. And it also puts forward that there are four major different aspects between eastern and western cultures, which are the most difficulties factors in the tourist translation. The third chapter makes a clear study on the features of Chinese tourist text. By doing so, it is clear known that the specialty of Chinese tourist information. On the basis of the analysis above, chapter four makes a probe into tourism translation materials under the guidance of plural complementarism translation criteria. It deals with the issues of tourist translation in four aspects such as lexical, cultural information, language style, and literary style. It is very important that one has to take into consideration such factors as functions of translation, target readers and human being's aesthetic preference, and therefore adopts pluralistic translation standards and specific translation strategies, for instance, literal translation or free translation, translatability or untranslatability, adaptation or alienation and full translation or partial translation. So, translation needs specific translation and translation skills. In this way, the translator makes a satisfying translation. The author translates into English the Imperial Palace (Gugong) tourist introduction in order to further justify the feasibility of Gu's theory. In the conclusion, it summaries the thesis and tentatively concluded that when doing tourism translation the translator has to adopt plural complementarism translation criteria. The"translation standard"issue in the translation circle proves that it is impossible to find a perfect applicable translation standard. The theory of multiple complementary translation criteria should be applied in the tourist translation.
