Functional Equivalence is a theory of translation based upon the response of the readers, named as Receptor's Response(E.U Nida).Translation involves two important aspects,the writer and original work and the target text readers and the translated text.From the writer to the reader, and the original work to the translated text,it is like a tough journey,said Qian Zhongshu.Journey ends when arrives at the destination,however,for translation,it is its mission to transmit the contents of the original work to the target text readers,of which is not ignorable.This dissertation has discussed about the functional equivalent translation from the readers' role and disserted the utmost importance of the target text readers in the translation of literature works, expecting to offer a brand new perspective for the assessment of literature translation.This dissertation is consists of four parts as the introduction,main body,the summary and the references.Part one,the introduction,elaborated the research status,the purpose,the methods used,the particularity and the structure of this dissertation.Part two,the main body of this dissertation,is consists of three sections.Section one,is the introduction of Functional Equivalence in translation,and elaborated its intrinsic quality,standard and the principles.Meanwhile,the research status of Functional Equivalence in translation at home and abroad is also discussed in this section.Section two,is the introduction of the theory of E.U Nida's Functional Equivalence. What's more,the relationship between this theory and the literature translation is explained systematically.Section three,the revelation of Functional Equivalence in translation of literature classics.For the first time,the target text reader is concerned in evaluation standard on the translated text,focusing on the response of the target text reader and opened up a new vision in translation theory,Part three,disserted that the literature works are created for the readers and thus the translated works are for the same purpose,too.Without the target text reader,translation is of no value.Part four,the references.
