Known as the"Hollywood of the East,"Hong Kong has produced a large quantities of moves, almost exceeded the amount of western countries. The quantity of movie output is only next to the United States. Compared with the Mainland and Taiwan, Hong Kong film industry has absorbed new ideas from Hollywood film industry. Having abandoned the production mode of"small workshop", it got valuable experience in production and developed a new movie form, which comforted people with entertainment and consumption. Been regarded as a successful model in movie history, Hong Kong commercial movie industry has aroused the concern of many scholars at home and abroad.The development of the Hong Kong commercial film has its own unique cultural background. As an international metropolis developed from a colony, Hong Kong's film industry inherits a strong commercial character inevitably, in other words, benefits is its final aim. Hong Kong film industry not only has the feature of ordinary commercial movie, such as the typification or the star system etc, but also retained its own traditional culture connotation which makes the Hong Kong commercial film attain unique aesthetic culture value to study. This essay tries to analyze the development of Hong Kong commercial film and its aesthetic cultural characteristics, baste on the Swordsmen films and comedy films.This article has three chapters. The first chapter outlines the development of Hong Kong commercial film. The Second chapter analyzes Hong Kong commercial film's aesthetic characteristics. The final chapter analyzes the successful examples of Hong Kong commercial films briefly.
