Study Of Grass-roots Police's Occupational Stress

As a special civil service occupations, The public security department directly faces with increasingly complex social problems formed during the social transition, such as tension of social contradictions, growing gap between rich and poor, deterioration of law and order environment etc., assumes the historical mission that is "consolidation of the status of the Communist Party, and safeguard national long-term stability, the protection of the people live and work in peace" . Furthermore, the government management model is changing from traditional to services to adapting to the socialist market economy. So it is obvious that the public security department become more important, Society is demanding of the police highly and the Police's occupational stress is increasing. The physical and psychological problems caused by a variety of occupational stress is seriously affecting the performance of individuals and organizations.Almost all police, grass-roots police's occupational stress is higher then the others. in this article , the author have researched the occupational stress of grass-roots police from QINPU Public Security Bureau on the base of summing up the past research literature, researched job satisfaction and job burnout, that are relation with the occupational stress. Then, the author have Set up research hypothesis and research model, investigated 116 grass-roots police, accounted with SPSS14. 0 Statistical Package , arrived at the following conclusions.1. The occupational stress of the grass-roots police from QINPU Public Security Bureau belong to higher level, Job satisfaction belong to lower-middle level, Emotional exhaustion and cynicism belong to higher level, Reduced personal accomplishment belong to middle level.2. Police's occupational stress is significantly different because of the difference of the Individual backgrounds.(1) Police's occupational stress is significantly different because of the difference of the sexuality.(2) Police's occupational stress is significantly different because of the difference of the age.(3) Police's occupational stress is significantly different because of the difference of the marital status.(4) Police's occupational stress is significantly different because of the difference of the age of police.(5) Police's occupational stress is significantly different because of the difference of the Position.3. Occupational stress and job satisfaction have a stronger correlation, Occupational stress can predict job satisfaction.4. Occupational stress and job burnout have a stronger correlation, Occupational stress can predict job burnout.After drawn the conclusion of the study, the author have made some management recommendations to relieve the stress of grass-root police in view of the individual, organizational and social support system.
