Emperor Hsüan-tsung(1399—1436),whose name is Chu Chan-chi and sobriquet Chang chun chen-jen.The name of Hsüan-tsungs reign period was Hsüan-te.During his reign, the capital was located in Peking.He was the great-grandson of the Hung-wu Emperor and excelled at painting and calligraphy.He depicted landscapes,figures,birds,and flowers,and insects.He has an important effect on the culture and art,imperial art especially,of Ming dynasty.The dissertation has analyzed and researched the painting art of Emperor Hsüan-tsung in detail.It not only lays special emphasis on the research of his skill and technique,style and subjects,but also discusses especially the effect of his life,social situation,social intercourse, cultural environment,and so on,to his arts.It lays his works of art in the history context,and analyzes them in different aspects and angles,and discusses his painting style,achievements and his situation in painting history apprehensively and objectively.
