Fuzzy language is an interesting but complex field. It is widely used in spoken and written language, especially in literary works. With its various representation forms and pragmatic value, fuzzy language is frequently used to represent the fuzzy beauty of literary works, and then realize the special aesthetic effect of the work. However, in traditional translation study, "faithfulness" has been considered as the most important standard to judge whether a translation is good or not. In literary translation, no matter translating fuzziness into precision or precision into fuzziness, there seems to be the suspicion of violating the "faithfulness" standard. For this reason, how to transfer the fuzzy language and realize the fuzzy beauty of literary works becomes the major research objective of this thesis. In the 1960s, aesthetics of reception, a reader-centered theory, was created by Constance School with Hans Robert Jauss and Wolfgang Iser as main representatives. This theory has a close relationship with hermeneutics and can be seen as a literary criticism. With its totally new perspective, aesthetics of reception theory has exerted a great influence on the whole literature field and literary translation field as well. This thesis aims at applying aesthetics of reception theory to the research on aesthetic recurrence of fuzzy language in literary translation. It begins with a survey of fuzzy language by discussing its pragmatic value and representation form in literary works. Then, the author generalizes several enlightenments of aesthetics of reception on literary translation by disserting the main thoughts of aesthetics of reception. Thus theoretical support can be provided for the choice of translation strategy. Later, the author analyzes the significance of readers' horizon of expectations and aesthetic distance to the domestication and foreignization strategy, and then puts forward the policy that translators should abide by in the process of translation. Thereafter, three concrete translation techniques are proposed for successful transference of the literary fuzzy beauty between different languages. In the conclusion, this thesis proposes that for the translation of the fuzzy language in literary works, foreignization should be adopted as the dominant strategy and domestication as the supplementary. Moreover, it comes to the conclusion that aesthetics of reception theory provides a new angle for the research on the aesthetic recurrence of fuzzy language in literary translation and the whole translation studies as well.
