Study On The Relationship Between Undergraduates' Personality Characteristics And Family Environment And Parental Rearing Pattern

Objective:①To explore the Undergraduates' EPQ personality characteristics of different type family.②To explore the correlation between undergraduates' EPQ personality characteristics and family environment.③To explore the relationship between undergraduates' EPQ personality characteristics and parental rearing pattern.Methods:Four hundreds and forty five undergraduates anticipated the survey,they were assessed by all of scales:Generally Family Background Questionnaire,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ), Family Environment Scale-Chinese Version(FES-CV) and Parent Upbringing Evaluation Forms(EMBU).Results:①Undergraduates' EPQ personality characteristics is correlated with the family environment:Psychoticism(P) is significantly negatively correlated with cohesion(FE1)(r= -0.371,P＜0.05); Extraversion(E) is significantly positively correlated with active-recreational orientation(FE7)(r=0.426,P＜0.01);Neuroticism(N) is significantly negatively correlated with independence(FE4)(r=-.0371, P＜0.05),and significantly negatively correlated with moral-religious emphasis(FE8)(r=-0.377,P＜0.05),and significantly negatively correlated with organization(FE9)(r=-0.291,P＜0.05).②Undergraduates' EPQ personality characteristics is correlated with the parental rearing pattern:Psychoticism(P) is significantly negatively correlated with father emotion warmth and understanding factor(FF1) (r=-0.436,P＜0.01),and significantly negatively correlated with father penalty severe factor(FF2)(r=-0.527,P＜0.05).Extraversion(E) is significantly negatively correlated with father over-interference factor (FF3)(r=-0.349,P＜0.05).Psychoticism(P) is significantly positively correlated with mother over- interference and over-protection factor (MF2)(r=0.482,P＜0.01).Extraversion(E) is significantly positively correlated with mother rejection and denies factor(MF3)(r=-0.442, P＜0.01).Neuroticism(N) is significantly negatively correlated with mother emotion warmth and understanding factor(MF1)(r=-0.321,P＜0.05),and negatively correlated with mother rejection and denies factor(MF3)(r= 0.538,P＜0.01),and negatively correlated with mother predilection factor(MF5)(r=-0.34,P＜0.05).Lie(L) is significantly negatively correlated with father penalty severe factor(FF2)(r=0.484,P＜0.01),and significantly positively correlated with father over-interference factor(FF3)(r=0.357,P＜0.05),and significantly negatively correlated with father predilection factor(FF4)(r=-0.549,P＜0.01).Conclusion:①Undergraduates' EPQ personality characteristics is closely related with the family environment:the more intimate the family atmosphere is,the less prone to the Psychoticism for children;the more independence,moral and religious constraints,and the stronger organization the family atmosphere is,the less the children's characteristics prone to Neuroticism;the more entertainment family atmosphere is,the more easy to cultivate children's outgoing personality.②Undergraduates' EPQ personality characteristics is closely related with the parental rearing pattern:Father emotion warmth and understanding and penalty severe inhibit children's Psychoticism;Father over-interference inhibit children's Extraversion.Mother interference and protect promote children's Psychoticism;Mother emotion warmth and understanding inhibit children's Neuroticism.Mother rejection and denies promote children's Neuroticism;Mother predilection inhibit children's Neuroticism.Mother rejection and denies inhibit children's Extraversion. Father's attitude will affect children in the Psychoticism of the personality characteristics,the mother's attitude affected children in the Neuroticism and the Internal- external personality characteristics.
