The Research On The Onomatopoeic In Modern Chinese

Onomatopoeic, as a special kind of lexical category, comes into being by imitating the sounds it describes, and exists in the most languages in the world. Its birth and development are fairly relevant to people's life. as a kind of language symbol, onomatopoeic shares all the characteristics of arbitrary, sociality and systematical as well as other lexical categories. The onomatopoeic and exclamation in modern Chinese belong to two different lexical categories. There are obvious differences between them both on analysis of their definition, linguistic function, paraphrase example, phonology, and rhetoric or admitting structure. Exclamation sometimes can be transformed into onomatopoeic, which is not a general phenomenon of word class repertoire, but is a stable style-spaning phenomenon.In the view of linguistic function, the onomatopoeic in modern Chinese language belong to lexical category. However, Chinese onomatopoeic can't represent conception verily and doesn't reflect conception, therefore it doesn't equal to others in the major lexical categories. At most, It can be looked as attaching to the major lexical categories. In our opinion, it can be named class content word.Chinese onomatopoeic not only have the characteristics of whole, but also have its specialty. Its theoretic is stranger than others, therefore, it not only possesses exterior theoretic, but also deep-seated interior. According to lexicology and lexics, we study the modern Chinese onomatopoeic systematically,researching into the morphology structure, phonetic structure, examples, the methods to explain, the parole to explain, word form process and so on, at the same time, this study can deepen our cognitions to onomatopoeic.This dissertation is divided into 6 chapters, the contents of each chapter as follows:Chapter1 Introduction: This chapter mainly gives a brief introduction about the aim, meaning, materials, and methods of this study, analyzing the production of previous study and expatiating on the relevant issues of the study of the senior.Chapter2 Attributive of the onomatopoeic: This chapter mainly probes into the issue of adscription of the onomatopoeic. At first, this chapter introduces the representational points of view about adscription of the onomatopoeic. And then discusses the difficulties about adscription of the onomatopoeic. Afterwards analyses the issues of linguistic function and conception. At last, puts forward the viewpoint that onomatopoeic is class content word.Chapter3 Semeiology of the onomatopoeic: Chapter3 gives research about the signifier and signified of onomatopoeic, and puts forward the rule of etymology, symbolizes, conformation, semantic, word-formation and so on. Moreover, it briefly analyzes the general characteristics of onomatopoeic in language.Chapter4 Differences between onomatopoeic and exclamation: it analyzes the onomatopoeic and exclamation in details which is in confusion in Chinese language. After compared onomatopoeic with exclamation on the aspects of definition , pronunciation, context, admitting structure, rhetoric function and so on., the chapter gets a clear viewpoint;Chapter5 Analysis of the onomatopoeic in Modern Chinese Dictionary:Under the view of lexicology, the Chinese language onomatopoeic is analyzed from static state. And the perspective is put forward about the problems about onomatopoeic in Modern Chinese Dictionary;Chapter6 Conclusion: Mainly summarize some of important opinions in this dissertation, meanwhile, pointing out the direction of study in future.
