It was a period with political civilization, economic development, prosperous in culture and human broad-minded in Chinese history. Women in Tang Dynasty had fewer constraints from traditional etiquette, life was free and open. The most outstanding performance was"not keeping to chastity"become a feast of common social phenomenon. A long period of time, the academic community of Neo-Confucianism followed home thinking, based on the chastity of women in the Tang Dynasty weak understanding of the chastity, although this period has been concerned about the issue of women keeping to chastity, but often only to emphasis their words and actions only on an exceptional basis, they still intended to emphasize that women in Tang Dynasty generally didn't not keeping to chastity. In fact, Tang women, although not keeping to chastity was very popular but not the mainstream of society. Tang Dynasty, whether it was the royal women, women in the family too bureaucratic or ordinary public women, the vast majority of women were still voluntary to keeping to chastity, thinking it was their basic life style. Documents on this period had numerous examples of women keeping to chastity, whether number or their touching stories, that surpassed the "do not keeping to chastity," formed a very spirited culture of chastity. Most women in Tang Dynasty, fulfilling the chastity, main reasons were: the first was the Tang Dynasty was still a male-centered society. Strengthening the chastity was an important foundation of maintaining social order. The second was women education in Tang Dynasty developed; many women were deeply influenced by "Confucian culture". The third was "political structure" consciousness still maintain in Tang Dynasty to some extent, the traditional custom culture still required women keeping to chastity. The forth was based on social morality and cultural ethics, rulers encouraged and advocated chastity. The fifth women enjoyed more economical rights in Tang Dynasty and certain economic basis to safeguard their keeping to chastity. The sixth was the Buddhist and Taoism religious cultures prevalent in Tang Dynasty. Religious culture was in a more deep thinking chastity at a time when religious belief wide spreading among women. Women chose chastity depending on their family status and personal circumstances varied the general living in the family, and some returned home, or to enter the Taoist temples and other places. At that time, from women's choice on where to keep to chastity, we can see that economic factors were the most important factor in women keeping to chastity. Keeping to chastity was a huge challenge for women's physical and mental, most women lived a poor life, or lonely, or religion, the pursuit of the moral integrity spirit "meet". To care for the elderly, their offspring, and become stable family, promoting the development of social economy and culture, a force. Women's chastity in Tang Dynasty not only influenced women themselves and families, but the country, the society even women consciousness. Women's chastity was the fruit of the spiritual civilization and greatly enriched the feudal society of China's women's chastity culture.
