Shuowenjiezi authorized by Xu shen in the period of Eastern Han Dynasty through more than eight hundred years of handing down was first revised and finalized by Li Yangbing, and there is more mistakes leading to deviation from the original. Later Xu xuan and. Xu kai who try to return to its original made a great contribution, but there are so manymistakes which cannot be corrected by them completely.therefore evidence of mistakes away from the original still exists.Although many experts who revised Shuowen all made monumental contributions, there is still divation.Shiwen produced by Lu Deming in Tang Dynasty cited over six hundred entries from Shuowen, because Shiwen appeared earlier than Shuowen revised by Xu xuan and Xu kai,it is possible to further correct the present Shuowen with these entries which is what this thesis will focus on.Shiwen cited something from Shuowen and the present are same or the similar parts make up over eighty percent of the former, therefore we can know the present Shuowen can be relied on and the attitude of Lu Deming who cited something from Shuowen is careful and prudent. The main content of the thesis has four parts. The first part is introduction. The second and the third parts are the comparison between Shiwen cited something from Shuowen and the present. The second part is the summery of the former and the third part is the more detailed demonstration. The fourth part is the conclusion.
