Gong Xian was a adherent school painter in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, he was best known as the head of Eight Master of Jinling, and his painting styles included White Gong and Black Gong. Gong was good at accumulated ink method, he created a particular and new style based on studying the traditional Chinese painting and nature. Gong spent many years on teaching, summed up rich experience of Painting education, and his painting theories and skills still had important instructional significance in modern times. Gong had diligent, modest, truth-seeking attitude of artistic creation which was also worthy of learning for future generations. This thesis analyzed systematically Gong's art style from his life, succession, technique, theory, and influence, with the purpose to help modern Chinese painting become more diversified and provide a sample of concern for the current art education by researching on Gong's way of painting art.
