Southeast Guizhou Miao Clothing Color Study

In the process of human material life and developing spiritual life, the color is always glow ing with its own magical charm. People do not only find, observe, create and enjoy the brilliant colors in this colorful world, but also people are deepening the understanding and the application of color through the eternal and changing period of time. From the birth of human, the color is going with us all the life. According to the scientific experiments, the five senses in the visual access to information is in the proportion of 87%, while all the visual appearance from outside world is coming from the color.China is a country with vast territory and large populatio, after thousands of years of evolution, there is forming a splendid variety of the traditional and national costume. Due to the difference of geography environment, climate, culture backgrounds, religion beliefs, living custom, and uneven levels of the development of productive forces, which make the national costumes present a wide variety of features. The costume of Miao nation is one of the most characteristic kinds.Miao nation is an very old nation, in the long process of developing history it has formed its own unique culture. As a rich spiritual heritage in minority, Miao costumes is with rich and complicated style and rarely found in 56 nationalities in China. Even we can distinguish between the various branches of Miao nation in accordance with its unique and different styles and colors. Because of the people from Miao nation always live in the southwest of China which is a relatively closed areas, the costumes still keep the original style. However, with the openness of society and the influx of foreign culture, the traditional costumes have been changed gradually and accordingly which have lost a lot of traditional costumes and patterns. Therefore, the study of the color of Miao nation costumes becomes more and more important.This article attempts to understand parts of color characteristics from Miao nation costumes through the systemic research, on the base of which we can make the systematic analysis of color. Meanwhile, we create the first research on the color of China's national costumes, scientific theory and analysis, and system construction. Therefore, there will be a very important guiding significance of theory and practice to carry out this activity in China. The writer hopes that through this article, it can play a certain role to push the future study of color from Chinese nation costumes forward.
