Value Meaning And Contmporary Significance Of Marcuse's Technical Rational Criticism

The so-called Technology Rationalism refers to a new trend of rationalism created in the context of recent accelerated development of modern science and technology.As one of the dominant cultural spirit of industrial civilization, the Technology Rationalism directly derived from classical Greek rationalism and is a combination of traditional rationalism, the spirit of Renaissance humanism and modern science and technology. It constitutes the important part of rationalist tradition.Universal theory of science and technology is the core of Technology Rationalism. It is believed that: People can grasp the overall structure of the universe through rationality and science,and conquer and control the nature by increasingly improved technical means to solve the various problems of human existence.In the face of the cultural crisis and value nothingness caused by Technology Rationalism, Western Marxism coincidentally find the root causes of cultural crisis from alienation of Technology Rationality.Technology Rationality Critique constitutes an important theme of the 20th Century Critical Philosophy. As an outstanding representative of Western Marxism and the Frankfurt School, Marcuse had sharp criticism of the new survival mode of alienation and reification caused by the Science and Technology. He pointed out that the new rule caused by technology is different from the alienation labor described by Marx.
