The Plight Of Women From The Female Directors' View

Taking the feminine movies directed by female directors and produced in China mainland as subjects, e.g. Life and death Plunder, Fish and Elephant, Dam Street, Lost in Beijing and You and Me which reflected the female problems in the transformation period of China, the thesis gave comprehensive analysis of semeiology, content and culture respectively, introduced and compared the techniques of expression, and discussed the female problems such as association, freedom, thought consciousness and so on. Based on the social actuality, we extracted the female figures, investigated detailedly the representative movie signs, thus analyzed the construction and presentation of female consciousness, and furthermore concluded the diverse social and cultural context which induced the female figures in Chinese feminine movies of the New Century. Our methods are different from the traditional ones which compared different directors, types or dates to analyze the change of female figures. In the perspectives of semeiology and communication, we expounded the difficulties of women living in the transformation period of China. Last but not least, we discussed the serious social problems in current China that for women how to treat with the relationship between their own reality and social reality, family and career, and of male-female, how to find their own social roles and social positions.
