The Study On Resolutions Of Classic Semantic Paradoxes

Paradox is a special form in human thinking process. It has played an very important role in promoting the developments of mathematics, logic and philosophy. According to this reason, we should do a comprehensive research on paradox to recongnize the nature of paradox. It is of great significance to solve semantic paradoxes to carry out the language analysis on human thinking logically or to clarigy the inernal relationships among mathematics,logic and philosophy. Based on further comparative study of formal technique and philosophical interpretation, this thesis not only presents some imperative conditions that a proper paradox resolution asks for but also points out their shortcomings. This thesis investigates the solutions to the paradox by taking use of the"Situation Semantics"program in details particularly.The emergition of classical semantic paradox has been over two thousand years, and it is one of the most old member in the whole family. With the developing study in paradox, scholars chaged their minds. They didn't regard the classical semantic paradox as a game that playing words, but a Scientific problem. With the shifting of the research on paradox, the research on classical semantic paradox has become a hotspot since the twentieth century.The research on classical semantic paradox is a hot topic overseas. The foreign countries do the researches are more insufficient and advanced than it is done in the domestic tesearch. This thesis makes the comparative analysis from three aspects: the categories and types of paradox, kinds of solutions to paradox and the significance to the solutions.
