There are two common methods in the teaching of second language writing: the length writing method and the process writing method. The process writing method puts a premium on the individual factors of the second language learners and the length writing method lays emphasis on the quality of the second language writing to enhance the overall level of the second language writing. In the actual practice of the second language writing, both the aforementioned methods can elevate the standard of the second language writing, meanwhile other new methodology can be introduced to complement the above-mentioned methodology. The purpose of the introduction is aiming at eliminating various mistakes and errors in the second language writing. The genre-based writing method can be rendered as a beneficial complement to thetwo writing methods. According to the view of the genre-based writing method, for a single second language learner, writing process is a cycling one and the learner and the director interact in the acquisition process. Furthermore the function of the genre-based writing process can be proved by the substantial experiment. As to the experimental research concerning the genre-based writing method, two research methods are adopted: the qualitative research and the quantitative research. To conduct the experimental research more efficiently, the materials for analysis are divided in the experimental class and the controlled class. In this experiment, ninety students are included. The teacher adopted the genre-based writing method in the experimental class, and in controlled class, the teacher used the traditional writing method. After a semester, ninety compositions were collected for analysis, employing the qualitative as well as the quantitative method. The quantitative analysis mainly deals with the concentration tendency as well as the distribution tendency in the two classes, in which the mean and other parameters are included. The qualitative analysis ponders on the errors as well as the mistakes in the language materials of the two classes. For a detailed analysis in the cycling analysis of the learners in the second language writing, five parameters are set up, which indicates the faithfulness, adaptation, correctness, regulation and conciseness. Faithfulness refers to the positive transference of the first language; adaptation indicates that the second language learner adapts to the requirement of the social-cultural contexts in the target language; correctness implies the basic language skills as well as the mastery of the knowledge of the target language; regulation stands for the normal orders of the focal genres, and conciseness contains the logical features of expressions in the acquisition process of second language learning. The experiment concludes that the disparity between the top students and the low-level students can be patched by the adaptation of the genre-based writing method and the various errors and mistakes can be overcome in the second language writing process. This research probes into the inner cause of the phenomenon, that is, in the process of second language writing process, the due features of the target language protrude. Besides, the intensity of the purpose and regulation in the cycling process for the second language learner is strengthened, thus in this sense, the genre-based writing method is a complement to the process writing method and the length writing method.
