"Jiao Shi Bi Cheng" is Jiao Hong's study notes. It is a summary of academic achievement, and also an important documentation to research textual criticism of Jiao Hong. This book takes much attention by later scholars, which they often quote from it. I'll try to write my thesis from the following aspects. At the first part, I will defined the concept of textual criticism and determine the study range before discussing textual criticism of "Jiao Shi Bi Cheng", and then explore the causes and conditions that had made Jiao Hong to research textual from the academic environment of Ming Dynasty during the renaissance of textual criticism. In the second part, I attempt to makes some compare study:Jiao Hong and other textual criticism experts such as Yang Shen, Chen Di, Hu Yinglin, Fang Yizhi compare on textual criticism. "Jiao Shi Bi Cheng" compare with their academic writings. From the compare, we can see the inherit and transmission relationship among Jiao Hong and the other textual criticism experts. From the compare, we also can see the achievement and shortage about his textual criticism on holistic and separate academic sector. At the same time, I'll analyze the reasons for shortcomings in practice. By that means, we can have a reasonable attitude towards the status and values about Jiao Hong and "Jiao Shi Bi Cheng" on textual criticism research. The study area will be developed at the third part. There are many notes about poetry criticism and compilation of prescription. But research of current shows that concerns were very few. Because of my shortage of knowledge, "Textual Criticism of the Ming Dynasty" written by Mr. Lin Qingzhang and "A Critical Biography of Jiao Hong" written by Mr. Li Jianxiong are the only references had discussed the poetry criticism in the book of "Jiao Shi Bi Cheng" that I have collected now. And there was only one thesis discussed the compilation of prescription. That is "Some Inquiries about the Prescription in Jiao Shi Bi Cheng" written by Gong Shiming (Published on "Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicinal Literature" 1999, No.3). So I'll try to do further discussion focus on two key missions: poetry criticism and compilation of prescription to show Jiao Hong's giant accomplishments except other aspects discussed in the second part. Thus fully explore Jiao Hong's textual criticism thought that one should resist vacuous academic atmosphere, which was reflected in "Jiao Shi Bi Cheng". At the same time, it also display Jiao Hong's practice play an important role on the changing of academic atmosphere in the late Ming Dynasty.
