The article does systematic researches to the successive use of auxiliary verbs of the Pre-Sui Dynasty, and discuss the sentence rules> meaning, and reasons for emerging domineeringly with the research methods of static description. After having referred to the rules of classifying auxiliary verbs which made by different schools, the article at first set the scope of auxiliary verbs in mid-ancient times, compose them, and investigate the literature of Chinese-translated Buddhist scripts. We found 71 successive auxiliary verbs in all. We divide them into six categories generally:1,the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean possibility;the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean willingness;3,the successive use of auxiliary verb which mean shouldness;4 the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean possibility and willingness;5 the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean possibility and shouldness;6 the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean willingness and shouldness. After careful description and deep analysis of these six categories of auxiliary verbs, we make conclusions as follows:Firstly, the development of each kind of successive auxiliary verbs is uneven as a whole. In 71 successive auxiliary verbs, the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean possibility count for the most part,20;and the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean possibility and shouldness,18; the successive use of auxiliary verb which mean shouldness,17;and the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean possibility and willingness,6;the least are the the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean willingness and the successive use of auxiliary verbs which mean possibility and willingness, both 5.It indicates that the auxiliary verbs which mean possibility was fully developed in the mid-ancient times.Secondly, the successive use of each auxiliary verb is also uneven from the individual aspect. In 71 successive auxiliary verbs, the "ke" and other auxiliary verbs are frequently successive used,20. The next is Dang, auxiliary verbs with it are 16,which shows that Ke and Dang were the most fully developed in the mid-ancient times. And they are also the core vocabularies of the possibility and should categories. On the other hand, we did not find Ke,Ren and He such auxiliary verbs and other auxiliary verbs'successive form.Thirdly, the auxiliary verb has plentiful sentence rules, such as the positive declarative sentence frames, NP+auxiliary verb+VP and NP+ auxiliary verb+Neg+VP. The negative declarative sentence,yes-or-no sentencse, asking sentences, choice question sentences,NP+location+ auxiliary verb successive use+VP frame and auxiliary verb successive use work as predicate language. Among all of these, NP+auxiliary verb+VP is the most frequently used.
