This research aims at examing the Investigation Results and Study on the Reliability and Validity of MHS of University Students with the Surname in HunanMethods:We investigate 619 students including freshmen, sophomores and seniors in Hunan Normal University, Nanhu college of Hunan Institute of Science and Technology, Jishou University and Shaoyang College, and the surveys of 582 of them are invalid.582 informants are 201 male students and 381 female students,315 of them come from art majors,267 of them come from science majors. We select Cronbach coefficient, split-half reliability and scales of retesting reliability to test the reliability, and select the construct validity and criterion validity to test the validity of the inventory.Results:(1) Subtests of the Cronbach coefficient is 0.339-0.852, and the Cronbach coefficient of happiness, impulsive anger, suspicion, trust and friendship, low self-esteem, psychological shift, self-control and self-confidence is 0.70, while that of the health concerns, subjective perceptions and interpersonal dishonesty reliability is slightly lower, respectively 0.339,0.598 and 0.588. Subscales of psychological problems and obstacles, positive emotions and health and cognitive concerns Cronbach coefficients are 0.816,0.644 and 0.588. The Cronbach coefficient of whole scale is 0.688. Subtests half reliability is 0.421-0.901, and the split-half reliability coefficient of happiness, impulsive anger, distrust, trust and friendship, low self-esteem, psychological shift, self-control and self-confidence is beyond 0.70. And health concerns, subjective perceptions of the split-half reliability coefficient is slightly lower,0.421 and 0.491, respectively; Subscales of the split-half reliability coefficients are 0.816,0.642 and 0.558, and cognitive health concern and a half reliability coefficient is relatively low; full scale of the split-half reliability coefficient is 0.732. Sub-test retest reliability is 0.220-0.821. Subscale there were significant correlation, they were 0.981,0.662 and 0.693; full scale test-retest reliability coefficient was 0.701. (2)Sub-test correlation coefficient is between 0.011-0.548, and the subtests, subscale and the coefficients between the items of total scale are correlated significantly, and the correlation coefficients are 0.77,0.32 and 0.74 respectively. (3) Positive factor in all mental health scales and SCL-90 scale in the positive factors are significantly related; negative factors and positive factors SCL-90 also significantly related. (4) Parts of the subtests play different roles in different genders, grades, majors and school statuses and associations.Conclusions:(1) MHS of University Students with the Surname of Xu and Gong in Hunan is reliable. (2) MHS of University Students in Hunan is of good construct validity and empirical validity. (3) MHS of University Students in Hunan are different in genders, grades and majors.
