The network has gradually become the main channel for access to information as well as trade and communication, search engine is one of the most important used tools. However, the inherent characteristics of network resources make users encounter various difficulties, which affect the search performance and generate negative emotional experience. This study focused on the user's emotional characteristics and the emotion which accompanied the web search behavior, examined the effect of network self-efficacy, external factors such as interrupts and feedback intervention on the user's search performance and search the impact of emotion, and analyzed the mediated effect of emotion. Two experiments were included. The effects of interruption and internet self-efficacy (ISE) on searching performance and emotion were explored in first one. The effects of feedback intervention on searching performance and emotion were considered in second one. Different external interventions were tried to improve the low Internet self-efficacy users' task related self-efficacy, inner goal setting and coping styles. Some major results were revealed. Firstly, interruption and ISE had a significant effect in searching performance and emotion evaluation. Feedback value and provided style had a significant effect in Perceived task related self-efficacy, coping style and inner goal setting. Secondly, interruption and ISE interactively influenced searching performance. Interruptions' effects were more strongly to Low ISE users. Feedback value and provided style interactively influenced searching performance. On the negative feedback conditions, the informational feedback was better than controlling feedback to improve the subject's search performance, so as it on the negative feedback conditions, but the improvement was smaller. Thirdly, interruption and ISE interactively influenced"confusion"and"dissatisfaction". As to the high ISE users," confusion" was weakly affected by interruption but "dissatisfaction" was strongly affected by interruption, it was on the contrary for the low ISE users. Feedback value and provided style interactively influenced emotion, perceived task related self-efficacy, coping style and inner goal setting. On the negative feedback conditions, the informational feedback made users feel more positive and set higher inner goals, the effect didn't exist on the positive feedback conditions. Fourthly, emotion is a mediator between ISE and the search accuracy rate. As to low ISE users, emotion was a mediator between coping styles and completed task number, that is to say, while studying search performance, emotion would be a mediator.Anyway, user's information search performance could be well predicted by ISE and improved by feedback interventions. Emotion was affected by interruption, ISE and feedback interventions, and it could affect search performance simultaneously. Therefore, Information search performance and users' emotional experience can both benefit by improving users' ISE and providing appropriate feedback would.
