With the birth and development of television, television dramas have gone through years of exploration history. From 1958 the first live, "the TV show" "a piece of pie" to today's voluminous series, the change of Chinese TV has surpassed any previous development of artistic style, constituted an irreplaceably important part of spiritual and cultural life of Chinese people and stimulated study of television drama types. The study of the "Youth idol drama" as a major type, entered into China in the 90's last century, has made a lot of achievements. However, most studies only remain in level of creating methods and techniques, aesthetic research, psychological analysis, and defect and insufficient, which can be said that the study of Chinese idol drama is still "on the road." This paper makes an effort to inspect some important theoretical issues concerning the creation of Chinese idol drama from a new point of view, i.e. the New Historicism, postmodernism, aesthetic theory and television dramas theory stand to further the study of Chinese teen idols play in another side.This article presents four parts as follow:The first part traces the development of Chinese drama and the rise of youth idol drama, discusses the complicated relationship between history and youth idol drama: historical figures capture, historical context setting and historical consciousness infiltration.The second part clarifies the theory resources and research object. Firstly, we examine the New Historicism theory and its research condition in China, and analyze the ideological content and the basic characteristics of sinicized New Historical artistic thought. Then we outline the development of youth idol drama, systematically illustrate the status of domestic idol drama and define range of study this idol drama research concerned.The third part analyze in a New Historical method the artistic technique of the domestic idol drama from four aspects in a New Historical method. Firstly we discuss its main content of love expression in history and reality, followed by the character description method:trivial, intrinsically reflection of humanity, then describe the presentation technique, reflecting history in the game, and at last the language style:personality, highlighted language in specialty.The fourth part illustrates the limitations of Chinese youth idol drama, while trying to explore the limitations of New Historical theory itself, and further development of domestic youth idol drama under the New Historical theory.The conclusion makes a prospective imagination of Chinese youth idol drama, concludes that youth idol drama should maintain indigenous characteristics and integrate historical consciousness, on which is based to further develop, mature and explore an artistic road with Chinese characteristics, full of historic heritage and national style.
