The higher education department of the ministry of education published "the teaching requirement for college English course" in September,2007. It points out that the aim of college English teaching is to train students'English integrated applied ability, especially listening and speaking ability. In current CET-4, the percent of listening part is 35% which shows the importance of it. In December,2008 the computer edition of CET-4 combines speaking and writing, with listening, furthermore, to examine students'integrated language applied ability, which makes listening part more important, so making progress of students'listening is on the way. As an aspect of second language acquisition, the research of learning strategy has drawn more and more researchers'attention. This thesis employs the theory of learning strategy and applies it in the listening teaching to do the strategy training for the students in order to search the way to raise students'listening level.This thesis chooses two English classes of Yanbian University as the experiment subjects, employs both qualitative and quantitative research methods, takes testing paper, questionnaire and interview as the research tool. The two research questions are what kind of influence inferencing strategy will make on students'listening level and whether there is different influence on different exercise types (short dialogue, long dialogue, passage and spot dictation). The whole experiment lasts one term. Before the training, the first questionnaire is delivered to search for the difficulty students faced while listening and pre-test is taken to ensure there is no difference between the two classes. After the training, the second questionnaire is used to examine the consciousness of the subject of the experimental class and the second test is taken to check the result of the training. According to the analysis which is done through SPSS 17.0, inferencing strategy training raises students listening level and makes different influence on different exercise type. The reason for this is analyzed and explained and on the basis of this suggestions for future research and teaching are put forward.
