The novel Legend of Heroes is considered as the best textbook of Beijing dialect, which is one of the most important documentation to study modern Chinese. However, there is none study regarding to the system of time adverbs, or even individual time adverbs. Combining with the corpus, we did a thorough research of 152 time adverbs in the Legend of Heroes under the policy of the combination of semantics and syntax. They are divided into thirteen categories: indicating the past tense, indicating the present tense, indicating the future tense, indicating the beginning, indicating the end, indicating a short term, indicating a long-lasting term, indicating temporary time, indicating gradual time, indicating being habitual, indicating repetition, indicating the sequence, and indicating variable intervals. Through the survey we find that the time adverbs in the Legend of Heroes still keep some usages of Ancient Chinese, and there are many relations of semantics and syntax of new words. Compared with Contemporary Chinese, the collocation of Modern Chinese are more variable. Meanwhile, time adverbs in Legend of Heroes also reflect the tendency of Chinese, which is to be disyllable.
