Yan Lianke is a rather promising writer in contemporary Chinese literary circle, whose series of works give the readers experiences of extremity and agony through his presentation of the agonies and perplexity of the lower class who struggle at the bottom of the society. What is especially peculiar is his revelation of the real cries from the in-depth of human nature in unfamiliar language. This peculiar style virtually subverted the conventional literary language mode and caused a sensation among the readership, bringing in fresh air to the literary world. Yan won himself great reputation and was yet another rising star after the success of famous writers such as Wang Shuo,Mo Yan etc.Drawing on related disciplines such as network literary language theory, cognitive linguistics, cultural linguistics, Chinese rhetoric, Chinese grammar, literature and psychology etc.,this paper does a systematic analysis and elaboration of the language style as well as an in-depth discussion of the causes pertaining to to such style within the framework of Chinese Stylistics (LI Yunhan )and Language Styles---an Exploration of the Beauty of Language (Zhong Rongxin) by employing the method of statistics, comparative analysis and induction etc. On the basis of the analysis, the paper believes the language style of Yan features a dual character of both spoken and written language. As for the writing style,Yan's novels display both vulgar and flowery style simultaneously. In addition, the paper also analyzed the factors contributing to Lan's language style from the perspective of suject matter, context constaints, receptor and the object expressed by scrutinizing the life experience, the language faculty, the emotions, the temperament, the guiding principle in literary creation and the aesthetic pursuit of the writer.
