The Multiple Investigation Of The Modal Adverb "确实(indeed)"

The modal adverb is one kind of adverb that its meaning is quite complex and its function is quite various in modern Chinese. They show unique nature in syntax, in semantics and in pragmatics, etc. This thesis selects the modal adverb "确实(Indeed)"as the study object, attempts to obtain from complex language phenomenon, take "three planes" as basic theory, utilize contrast analytic method and "the focal point analysis", etc. Obtains from the microscopic investigation's angle, take the widespread actual language materials investigation as the foundation, by the induction primarily, uses the method which induces and deducts unifies, confirms, altogether when the inspection and the lasted exploration unify, from the surface layer to inner layer, from the static state to dynamic state, from the description to the explanation, through analyze the material, makes every effort to investigate the essence characteristics and the function of the modern Chinese modal adverb "确实(Indeed)"Through analyzed, we saw "确实(Indeed)"displays the very big flexibility in the syntactic distribution, may make the component parts of sentences, may also make the conjoined element, link clauses to compose sentences, link the sentences to compose sentences group, link the engagement paragraph to compose chapter. In the syntax combination, "确实(Indeed)"may be present with the different parts of speech altogether, such as modal adverb, connection adverb, time adverb, the mood particle the interjection, the modal particle the copula "是(be)". The modal feature of "确实(Indeed)" mainly displays in its nimble syntactic position and acts as the component parts ability, in the sentences expressed that storyteller's subjective emotion and the subjective understanding, usually are located at the most outer layer of the sentences, acts as the high-level predicate of a sentence.The basic meaning of the modal adverb"确实(Indeed)" is to emphasize the authenticity of certain situation. A language section containing "确实(Indeed)" generally has the following semantic composition: there is one thing, the thing has certain condition, the speaker emphasizes the situation is undeniable. In the semantic direction, the point would be different according to various syntactic positions of "确实(Indeed)" Based on the partial syntactic and semantic analysis of the parts connected with"确实(Indeed)" , either before or after, we found that there are a wide variety of semantic relations between the clauses, sentences or other group connected by "确实(Indeed)", including coherent, progressive, paratactic, reason, explaining, inference, purpose, turning, concession, summary, results, etc.The function of modal adverb "确实(Indeed)" mainly manifests in: Has the applausive function, the emphasis function, to indicate the preinstall and have a strong language function.
