Recomposition Of The Classics--from Ba Jin's Jia To The New Tv Play Jia Of 2007

Ba Jin's Jia has exerted far-reaching influence in China. It's not only the most successful novel of his full-leghth novel Rip-Trilogy, but also the excellent one of the contemporary literature which depicts the rise and fall of feudal family. With the development of the film industry, it has been adapted for movie and TV series about seven times. According to different ages, cultural conditions and aesthetic interests, the tendency to adapt is different. Influenced by the popular consumptive conception, the new adapted edition Jia emphasized consumptive culture, and finished conversion from the traditional aesthetic culture type into the modern consumptive culture type. The new TV series reformed the traditional literature, disorgnised the traditional aesthetic characteristics and elucidatory method, and fully presented the basic feature of the aesthetic culture in consumptive era—"visual recreation".This thesis's object is to dissertate the recomposition of Jia from the novel Jia under the background of popular culture. The research was dificient for there were only two papers about the TV series of 1987, and there is no research about the new TV series from now on. The new TV series bases on the novel and surpasses the novel, its theme and narrative method are the concentrated expression of the consumer culture. The writer contrasts the two different text, does the Cross-media, interdiciplinary research, analyzes the reason and method of adaption deeply. This research contributes to linking up the literature with other cultural sphere, and also starts a new approach for understanding and creating the literature under winder cultural area.This thesis consists of five parts. The introduction briefs the reorgnization of the works Jia. It investigates the mode of adaption and the current situation of research, analyzes the significance of this thesis and summarizes the main idea of the rest parts. Chapter One focuses on the theme reconstruct,the main idea of which is to make a research on the theme subversive power through analysing the feudal ethical code, the narrative clue and the dramatis personae. Chapter Two reveals visual recreaction of narration. It investigates how the audience are amused by analyzing the costume, environment and the stars. Chapter Three attempts to examine the narrative interest and presents the conversion of narrative structure. It mainly analyzes how the narrative structure of the novel is changed so as to enhance the interest of the TV series. The conclusion part summarizes the thesis and reiterates the significance of the current research.
