| Relatively less research has been done on the study of vocabulary,especially the comprehensive study of semantic system in a particular historical period and a particular category of words. In this thesis,we mainly study the semantic system of verbs which mean"taking with hands"in ancient Chinese language,including two aspects:the description of synchronic system of semantic and the evolution of diachronic systematic.This thesis belongs to the study of the history of Chinese vocabulary area.In this thesis,we take the semantic system of verbs which mean"taking with hands"in ancient Chinese language as the research object,their uses in ancient literature are analyzed,their senses are grouped and sorted.On the basis of the syntagmatic relation and paradigmatic relation,semantic analysis and the achievements already made in critical interpretation of ancient text,the thesis describes the synchronic system of semantic,the diachronic systematic changes of meanings, the popularity and gradual replacement of vocabulary of the verbs,and talks about the changes of this kind of verb.The whole thesis is composed of four parts:The first part:introduction.We mainly introduce the significance of lexically studying in this thesis,the present research,the material,the study methods and difficulties.Secondly,main part,including the first,second,third chapter.Drawing on results of previous studies,We divide the ancient Chinese language into three periods.Then we take the semantic system of verbs which mean"taking with hands"in ancient Chinese language as the research object,analyze the semantic of words in every period,describe the semantic system,and show the links and differences between them in the matrix form.Thirdly,the fourth chapter.We mainly discuss the evolution on the circumstances of some thought and concluded of the verbs signifying take in the three periods.In the last part,a brief summary of the contents of this writing,as well as shortcomings.
