Fengshui is a kind of thoery that Chinese people use to probe into the relations between a person's destiny and the universe which is "Good or Bad", "Lucky or Ominous". Tang Dynasty was the most important period as a transition in the Fengshui history. The method of Fengshui was formed in Qin and Han dynasties; its basic theories were established and spread in Wei and Jin dynasties; a systematic and programmed theory came out in Tang Dynasty, and site choosing had become a prevalent convention by that time. All these theories and practice made a profound influence on the aftertime. This thesis begins with collecting and sorting documents, paying attention to the completeness of data and the feasibility of practice. The main work focuses on gathering the most complete records about Fengshui activities in Tang Dynasty from sketchbooks, historic books, corpus, Dunhuang files, archaeological literatures, Fengshui monographs, local histories and other materials. These documents have been classified in this thesis to investigate the Fengshui activities in Tang Dynasty. The legends about Fengshui have also been sorted out to investigate people's values and secular psychologies.
